Ragi /Finger Millet Puttu

Ragi/ Finger millet is healthy millet variety. Certain people doesn’t like millets and millets cooked like this will make the difference.

Ragi when made as puttu is a wholesome breakfast for the family including kids.

Ragi Puttu doesn’t need a puttu maker . It can just be made in an Idly Pot , which is simple to prepare.



Ingredients:

Ragi /Finger Millet Flour – 1 cup

Warm Water- ¼ cup – ½ cup

Cocunut- ½ cup

Sugar/Jaggery – ½ cup

Salt- ¼ tsp

Cardamom powder – ½ to 1 tsp


Steps to prepare:

  1. In a wide bowl, add ragi flour,salt and add warm water little by little and mix the flour with hands so as not to form any lumps.

  2. Mix until ragi flour is little wet and if any lumps formed, blend in low pulse in mixer so as to break it and which will also makes the puttu so soft.

  3. Now heat the Idly pan/puttu steamer and grease it with Ghee.

  4. Place the mixed wet Ragi flour in a idly plates as shown.

  5. Let it steam for 15- 20 mins so as the ragi to cook well.

  6. Mix it with sugar/jaggery , cardamom

1. Take 1 cup Ragi and ¼ to ½ cup warm water



2. Add water little by little and mix it well so as lumps should not be formed.




3. Pulse once in blender/mixie to make the flour without any lumps and whih inturn makes soft puttu




4. Grease Idly plate with ghee or cocunut oil. Place the flour as shown and allow it to steam for 15 mins to cook ragi well.




5. Combine Sugar/jaggery,cardomom powder , ghee to taste .


Ragi Sweet Puttu is ready for breakfast.
