Vegetarian keema/ Soya Kheema is made with soya chunks or meal maker and its prepared similar to the mutton or chicken keema where soya chunks are minced using blender or chopped finely.
It’s a perfect replacement of mutton/chicken kheema for a vegetarian feast. Peas can be added to the kheema for the extra flavour.
Soya chunks are good for kids too as its filled with proteins and can be served with roti or chapathi or rice.
Boil/rinse soya chunks or meal maker thoroughly with water to remove dirt and make it soft.
Ingredients:
For Boiling Soya:
Soya chunks – 1 cup
Water- 2-3 cups
Spice Powders:
Garam masala - 2 tsp
Chilli powder-2 tsp
Coriander powder- 2 tsp
salt to taste
For Gravy:
Big Onion-2
Curry leaves-few
Tomato-1
For Grinding:
Shallots or small onion- 10
Garlic – 6 small pods
Ginger – ¼ inch
Steps to prepare:
1. Boil and Rinse soya granules thoroughly with water.
2. Blend soya Granules in pulse mode to get minced soya
3.Heat oil in a pan and add ginger , garlic and shallots.
4. Fry till golden brown, keep it aside and blend together into a fine paste
5. Now heat the oil in the pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, cumin seeds , onion .
6. Saute till onions are fried well and add tomato , saute till mushy.
7. Add the minced soya , saute for few minutes
8.Now add tomato and the spice powders , blended paste and saute for few seconds
9. Add water till you get the required consistency and cook well untill the raw smell leaves off.
Garnish with Coriander leaves. Veg Kheema can be served with chapathi , roti , rice etc
